Michael Byrd is a first-generation college student from Weaverville, North Carolina, studying Environmental Science and Business Administration. He is the Sustainability Partnerships Coordinator for Vintage Blue UNC, a Business Analyst at UNC’s chapter of Consult Your Community, and has held positions as a Summer Research Intern at UNC’s Law School and as an Orientation Leader for UNC’s New Student and Family Programs. Michael is interested in utilizing the power of the private sector to achieve social equity and environmental sustainability, especially in relation to providing access to education and social mobility in underrepresented populations. In his free time, he loves to play volleyball, hike, and spend time outdoors with friends. This summer, he will be working as a Finance Intern at Rivian where he will be identifying pathways for sustainable growth and developing internal diversity and inclusion standards.
